Providing fine interior sewing, enhancing the home with beautiful textile furnishings.
It all started with a chair…
But first let me back up. I grew up in Kansas, the daughter of an expert seamstress. Watching her turn an ordinary piece of fabric into something beautiful instilled in me a passion to create.
When I was in high school, my sewing instructor noticed my advanced skills and began to challenge me. I got to choose my own assignments! Creations: a luscious camel wool coat, lingerie, swimwear, custom pillows, etc. Business was my second favorite class. With the encouragement from these instructors, I had found my passion and calling. A sewing business!
Now we fast forward…I had moved to California and married the cutest, most fantastic man. A few years later we were raising our two precious girls. I continued sewing for myself, family and friends. Small projects really. Just for fun.
One day, as I was sipping coffee, snuggled up on my favorite wingback chair, I noticed it was looking a little “loved.” Let’s face it, it needed a makeover. That sparked an idea. I would enroll in an upholstery class. Everyone needs another hobby, right? It was a blast. Being back in the workroom rekindled my love of creating and gave me the boost and confidence to finally start that sewing business!
The year was 2004. Now was the time. My husband was retiring. The girls had grown so I had less responsibilities to them. A business name, MARCI BEAUCOUP® was registered and my first industrial sewing machines were delivered! A seller’s permit and business license were obtained and I enrolled in the Custom Home Furnishing Academy in North Carolina. My childhood dream was now my reality. I was finally a sewing professional.
Immediately, I hit the ground running, and have been working with fabulous Interior Designers creating custom home fashions ever since.
What a journey this has been, and it’s only just begun!
